DC Kohima urges ITI graduates to value skills

DIMAPUR

Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, encouraged graduating trainees of Government ITI Kohima to dream big and value their skills in a rapidly evolving world, while addressing the 4th Convocation Programme held at the ITI Kohima Complex on October 4.
According to DIPR, highlighting the impact of technology, Buchem noted that while Artificial Intelligence may replace many jobs, skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and mechanics will remain indispensable. He proposed the creation of an online platform to connect skilled workers with job opportunities, promoting local employment.
Sharing his personal journey, Buchem urged the trainees to plan with discretion, work diligently and pursue private sector opportunities beyond conventional paths. He cautioned against societal pessimism and emphasized that courage and determination would shape the future.
The DC also lauded ITI Kohima Principal, Er. Enchiba Longkumer, describing him as one of the most efficient and professional officers in the district.
Altogether, 160 students graduated from the institute. The programme featured a welcome note by principal Longkumer, prayer by pastor Vimegokho Chüsi, and speeches by Kesalhoukho Casavi and Senbeni M Yanthan on behalf of faculty and trainees.
