In view of recurring landslides and rockfalls along the Kohima-Jessami (Package-II) stretch of NH-29, deputy commissioner Phek, Kuko Mero has issued travel advisory, a DIPR report stated.
Despite regular maintenance and restoration work carried out by Vetex Construction Company, DC said that relentless passage of heavy-loaded trucks has caused continuous damage. The frequent movement of vehicles has also obstructed maintenance efforts.
The affected portion of the road spans from existing Km 30.474 to existing Km. 53.220 (Design Km. 29.600 to Km. 51.5). To prioritize the safety of all travelers and ensure the effectiveness of maintenance work, movement of vehicles along the specific stretch has been restricted from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. till October 2. Travellers (light/medium vehicles) have been advised to take alternative route via Zuketsa.
