Taking serious note of flouting all safety norms at Murgipatti vegetable wholesale market, deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur Anoop Khinchi has warned traders that he will be compelled to shut down the market if safety guidelines were not being followed by all. According to DIPR, the DC visited the vegetable/fruit market on July 8, to check whether safety guidelines were strictly being followed by all.
He reminded that vegetable wholesale market was temporary shifted to super market due to convenience of availability of space for trade and parking. However, since the traders expressed inconvenience due to want of shed and other logistics, it was again shifted to the original market at Murgipatti.
Therefore, Khinchi directed the whole sellers to ensure that all labourers and customers wear masks covering the nose and mouth, maintain social distance and to practice hand hygiene. He also asked them to keep soap and water for washing hands.
DC further directed them to setup more barricades to ensuring social distancing. He also advised the GB and DMC make daily announcements in the morning to remind traders at Murgipatti about the safety protocols. DC was accompanied by DPRO Dimapur, GB and DMC officials.
