DC Wokha bans hunting

As per official notification received from the commissioner of Nagaland, and advisory issued by principal director, directorate of health and family welfare Nagaland, declaring public health emergency of international concern of the outbreak of novel corona virus (CovID-19) in China and other parts of the world, DC, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha has informed all concerned village councils under Wokha district to immediately impose ban on hunting of wild animals in their respective jurisdiction with immediate effect.

In a press release issued by DC Wokha, reports and past experiences with COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses suggest that there may have been transmission of virus from wild animals to human and in the light of such event and prevention is always better than care.

Further, the DC has directed all the village councils to strictly comply with the government directive and that the order shall come into force from the date of issue of the order till further notice.
