Drugs Control Authority Dimapur warns unauthorised inspection

Drugs Control Authority Dimapur (DCAD) zone has taken strong exception to the unauthorised inspection and verification of drug licence by some NGOs, councils and other organisations.


In a circular, assistant drugs controller Dimapur zone, L Martemjen Longkumer pointed out that chapter IV of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules 1945, which is for manufacturing, sale and distribution of drugs and cosmetics, authorize only the drugs control administration.


Therefore, drugs control authority has asserted inspection and verification of drug licence is-sued by the Controlling & Licensing Authority by any agency was illegal and goes against the Act.


All the retailers and wholesalers within Dimapur zone—Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Niuland and Peren—have been directed not to entertain any verification except by the Drugs Control.
