DCCI appeals for lifting closure of New Market

Expressing concern over the closure of New Market for the last couple of days, especially in the backdrop of the upcoming festive season, the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has appealed to the responsible authority to immediately lift the closure in the best interest of both the business community and the shoppers. In a press release, DCCI president Akashe K Zhimomi stated that the sudden notice for closure of the market came as “a rude shock” since the business community just started to build their “shattered economy.”

DCCI has also reminded all shops and business houses to strictly comely with the latest Covid-19 safety guidelines. DCCI warned that strict action would be initiated against those shops violating the safety guidelines issued by the District Task Force Dimapur. Meanwhile, DCCI has requested all shops and business establishments to clean, spruce up and decorate their respective shops and premises latest by the first week of December.

It also requited business welfare committees and unions of various markets registered under DCCI to supervise the cleaning, face-lift and festive decorations in their respective jurisdictions. DCCI said would inspect all shops, markets and shopping complexes and give prizes to the best decorated shops and markets.  Further, DCCI informed all shops and traders to open their shutters on Sundays with effect from the month of December to facilitate festive shoppers.
