DIMAPUR, JUL 4 (NPN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) strongly condemned the June 30 incident involving vandalism, lawlessness, and illegal monetary demands targeting members of the business community.
DCCI emphasized that such acts instill fear, disrupt normal operations, and erode the rule of law, reiterating its firm stance against any form of unlawful business activity. DCCI stressed that no individual/ group has the authority to take the law into their own hands, and any allegations of wrongdoing must be addressed solely through due legal process by competent authorities. Calling for accountability, DCCI urged the district administration and commissioner of police to carry out a fair, impartial, and thorough probe, assuring its full cooperation to ensure justice and prevent recurrence of such incidents.
DCCI reaffirmed its consistent position that the rule of law must prevail, with no person or organization being above it, and that disputes or grievances should always be resolved through constitutional means. DCCI also issued an advisory to members, cautioning against entertaining summons, demands, or requests for monetary contributions without proper verification and due process.
It encouraged to immediately report against such coercive attempts to both the Chamber and law enforcement authorities, rather than succumbing to intimidation. Reassuring the business community, DCCI pledged its commitment to safeguarding their interests and fostering a secure, lawful, and business-friendly environment in Dimapur.
