DCCI directs businesses not to entertain DNSU demands

DIMAPUR, JUN 12 (NPN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has directed its affiliated members and the business community not to entertain any form of donation requests, summons, or information-seeking activities initiated by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU).
DCCI through its media cell said the directive was issued in line with a joint resolution adopted on June 3, 2026 by the DCCI, Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union Dimapur Sadar (GBUDS). The chamber instructed all business establishments under its jurisdiction to immediately report any such approaches by DNSU to the DCCI grievances cell or its office bearers.
DCCI also appealed to DUCCF and GBUDS to disseminate information on the non-cooperation movement among the business community and the general public within their respective colonies and jurisdictions.
While maintaining that it did not support illegal business activities by its members, DCCI criticised what it described as the arbitrary closure of business establishments by a student body.
“While DCCI does not support its members doing illegal businesses, the random act of closing down a business establishment by a student body is totally uncalled for and must be criticised by all,” DCCI stated. The chamber asserted that any discrepancies, malpractices or unfair trade practices involving businesses should be reported to the appropriate authorities for necessary action. Reiterating its stand on the rule of law, DCCI said no individual or organisation should take the law into their own hands, adding that no one was above the law.
