Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) have strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault on a minor girl by one Ali Mortuja at New Market, Dimapur.
In a press statement, DCCI president Akashe Zhimomi expressed shock over the incident and urged all business owners to uphold a customer-friendly and respectful market environment. DCCI also appreciated the swift response of Dimapur police in arresting the accused, and thanked the GB and New Market Business Owners’ Association (NMBOA) for helping maintain peace.
Further, DCCI extended solidarity with the victim’s family and demanded strict punishment for accused as per law.
WSYF through its media cell also denounced the alleged assault committed by Ali Mortuja, son of Abdul Latif, and described the act as an attack on both individual dignity and societal values.
The youth body demanded fast-track prosecution, cancellation of Mortuja’s trade licence and documents, and a complete ban on his presence and activity within Nagaland.
WSYF warned that any delay or failure in addressing the issue would lead to strong opposition from the youth body and rejection of any entity found complicit. WSYF reaffirmed its commitment to a violence-free and just society.
