DCs of Wokha, Kiphire enforce MCC

Hours after the announcement of the conduct of state assembly elections 2023 by the ECI, the DCs of Wokha and Kiphire has enforced model code of conduct (MCC) in their respective districts with immediate effect.
DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan stated that in exercise of powers under section 144CrpC has prohibited carrying of any kinds of arms and ammunition by any person within Wokha district.
In this regard, all licensed arms unless exempted under have been directed to deposit at the nearest police station. The DC has also issued directives to be followed by the public, political parties, intending candidates and others within Wokha district. However, police personnel and security forces and the officials/personnel involved in law and order duty were exempted.
In a separate notification, DC Kiphire, T. Wati Aier informed the political parties and candidates that the model code of conduct have been imposed with immediate effect throughout Kiphire district and will be in enforce till the completion of the election process. Political parties, intending candidates, government departments/establishments and general public have been informed to take note of the same and strictly adheres to the model code conduct.
