DDADU cautions auto drivers on excessive fares

Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union (DDADU) cautioned auto drivers asking for excessive fares after several complaints about the hike of auto fares recently in the newspapers.

A release by DDADU through its president DDADU, Tito Yeptho while requesting all concerned to come to the terms with present circumstances such as the rise in prices of essential commodities such as fuel, food items, auto parts, etc., also asked people to inform DDADU head office if any excessive fares were charged so that proper actions would be taken upon unruly drivers.

The union stated that recently, an unwarranted incident occurred between some media persons and an auto driver with regards to excessive fare charges.

The driver was summoned to the office and let off with a warning not to do the same in the future.

Meanwhile it reiterated that on any accidents or incidents on the part of the drivers, the union would take no responsibilities for drivers not having union ID, uniform and relevant vehicle documents.

Owners have also been asked not to allow drivers without proper documents to drive in order to avoid any untoward incidents.

In this, it stated that DDADU head office would not be held responsible for drivers who refuse to be affiliated with DDADU.

Further it stated that unless he has union ID cards, uniform, the concerned driver will not drive any autos in and around Dimapur.
