Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union (DDADU) has clarified to all bonafide members of the union that the election notice that appeared in local dailies on July 20 was issued and published without proper consultation of the office of DDADU.
In a press note, president DDADU, Hokaito Zhimomi, stated that a meeting was called on July 17 to deliberate on the election process of DDADU for the tenure 2016-2019. However, the meeting was adjourned as only one advisor and a handful of office bearers were failing to fulfil the requisite quorum of 2/3rd majority as per DDADU constitution, Zhimomi said.
He stated that, however, some “unruly” individuals, on their own and without regard to DDADU constitution or members, issued a press notification calling for election.
In this regard, Zhimomi stated that it was mandatory to invoke Article-XI (a) of the “duly” registered Constitution of DDADU for setting up of Election Commission and therefore the election notice “purportedly” issued by the Election Commission in local dailies was “null and void” since no such Election Commission was set up by DDADU and the said notice was issued ultra-vires the DDADU Constitution.
Further, in the interest of DDADU, Zhimomi maintained the notice issued be considered “unauthorised” and “un-mandated” and also cautioned that any further notification or press release without due consultation of the members, office bearers, and advisors of DDADU would be considered as a threat to the sanctity of the constitution of DDADU and any unauthorised entity operating against the interest of DDADU would be doing so at their own risk.
