Reacting to news item “Auto drivers react; demands same yardstick for others”, published February 12, the Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU) has slammed what it described as “non-existent union so called ‘General Autorickshaw Drivers’ (GAD).”
In a press release, DDADU president K Hokaito Zhimomi clarified that a joint meeting held February 11, 2015 at DC’s conference hall deliberated and amicably settled the issue of revision of autorickshaw fares. The meeting was reportedly attended by all departments involved i.e. SP Dimapur; Dy. SP (traffic) Dimapur, district transport officer Dimapur and SDO (C) sadar.
DDADU warned “any individuals or non-existent union” to refrain from publishing statements involving auto drivers which it represented. Further, the union cautioned that any person who continued to resort to such practice would be dealt with strictly and liable to prosecution. Meanwhile, DADU requested the media not to entertain or publish any items/articles pertaining to the autorickshaw drivers union unless officially singed and issued by its president or general secretary.
