DIMAPUR, JUN 13 (NPN): Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of several important roads in and around Dimapur, calling for urgent repairs and accountability from the responsible authorities.
In a press release, DDCC said the worsening condition of key roads was causing immense hardship to commuters, students, office-goers, business establishments and the general public.
The committee particularly highlighted the road stretch from Purana Bazaar to Supermarket, which it said had deteriorated drastically despite having been repaired and developed only recently.
According to DDCC, the road was now riddled with potholes, uneven surfaces and damaged sections, raising serious questions over the quality of construction and the utilisation of public funds.
The party also drew attention to the road leading to the new deputy commissioner’s office at Purana Bazaar, describing its condition as “pathetic”. It pointed out that the route served as an important administrative corridor frequently used by government officials and members of the public, and said its continued neglect reflected poorly on the management of public infrastructure.
DDCC further raised concern over the condition of the Niuland road, stating that the recently constructed stretch had already developed numerous potholes and damaged sections, making travel unsafe and uncomfortable for commuters.
Stating that premature deterioration of newly constructed roads warranted serious scrutiny, the party called for an immediate inspection of the affected stretches and corrective measures by the responsible departments and agencies.
DDCC appealed to the public works department, district administration and other responsible authorities to undertake urgent repair and restoration works and ensure that public infrastructure projects meet acceptable quality standards.
Demanding a thorough assessment of the construction quality of the projects, DDCC urged the government to fix accountability wherever substandard work was found.
“The people of Dimapur and Niuland deserve safe, durable and quality road infrastructure,” the committee said and urged the government to address the issue without further delay.
