DDCGA tribe executives oppose election of office bearers

Dimapur District GB Association (DDGBA) tribe executives from Angami, Ao, Lotha, Chakhesang, Zeliang, Phom, Sangtam, Kuki and Kachari communities have expressed opposition the election of the office bearers.

In a representation addressed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, the executives from nine tribes stated that the tenure of last office bearers expired in the month of May 2018. However, the signatories said the present office was manned by the office bearers without the approval of the general body and last general body meeting conducted on November 24, 2018.

Prior to the general meeting, they said the executive committee constituted a five-member search committee as per constitution and brought the new office bearers for the general approval. Accordingly, they said the report of the search committee was deliberated and the majority voiced for acceptance of the said report.  However, the signatories said the present president ignoring the voice of the majority overruled and the initiated for election, which they termed as “illegal and against constitution.” Therefore, the signatories said they have on January 14, 2019 resolved to uphold the search committee report as per constitution.
