DDFL Trophy: Dimapur United and Akito FC dominate Matchday 12

DIMAPUR, SEP 28 (NPN): Matchday 12 of the Dimapur District Football League (DDFL)-cum-Late Hejeto Ayemi Trophy saw emphatic victories for both Dimapur United Sporting Club and Akito FC, as they brushed aside their opponents with commanding performances at the DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on Monday.
Dimapur United Sporting Club 4 – 0 Indisen FC
Dimapur United Sporting Club produced a clinical display to dismantle Indisen FC, securing a 4-0 win. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Yiben opened the scoring. After halftime, the hosts intensified their attack: Vinato doubled the lead just two minutes into the second half, followed by an own goal from Indisen captain Maong Imsong in the 57th minute.
The highlight of the match was Ghughe’s strike in the 60th minute, which sealed the victory and earned him the Player of the Match award. Dimapur United dominated possession (70%) and registered 10 shots, with four on target, compared to Indisen’s nine attempts with only one on target.
Despite Indisen’s multiple free-kick opportunities, they failed to capitalize, with Hengoulen and Imrong missing from promising positions. Dimapur’s midfield, led by captain Nungsang, controlled the tempo, while goalkeeper Anil Sangma ensured a clean sheet.
Akito FC 3 – 0 Don Bosco Sports Academy
In the second fixture, Akito FC outclassed Don Bosco Sports Academy with a 3-0 triumph. After a goalless first half, substitute Lokivi broke the deadlock in the 51st minute and added a second in the 74th minute. The victory was capped by Yirampheu Ringdi’s goal in the 81st minute, securing all three points.
Akito’s Chunilo (#12) was named Player of the Match for his commanding presence in midfield. The team registered 15 shots, six on target, while Don Bosco managed only five attempts. Possession was evenly split, but Akito’s sharper finishing proved decisive.
Don Bosco struggled to create clear chances, with captain Rohit Das and striker Benrithung Murry unable to convert from set pieces. Akito’s substitutions, particularly the introduction of Nungsangchiba and Sangti, added fresh energy that overwhelmed the visitors.
