DDFRA presents Lifetime Achievement Award to member

DIMAPUR, OCT 2 (NPN)

Dimapur District Football Referee Association (DDFRA) on Thursday conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award upon its general secretary, G. Kami, in recognition of his enduring contribution to the development of football and refereeing in the district.
Kami, whose journey in football began in 1971, saw his playing career cut short due to an accident in 1975. Undeterred, his passion for the sport led him to take up refereeing in 1982. Since the formation of DDFRA in 1997, Kami has remained a steadfast member, playing a pivotal role in shaping the association’s growth.
Speaking at the felicitation programme, Kami expressed gratitude to the members of DDFRA for their unwavering support and urged upcoming referees to uphold discipline and carry forward the legacy of the association.
DDFRA president Shiyito Achumi, who presented the certificate of appreciation, fondly recalled his years of collaboration with Kami. He highlighted the milestones achieved under their leadership, including the celebration of the association’s 25th anniversary in 2022 and the grooming of several national-level coaches. Shiyito also lauded Kami’s efforts in grassroots football development across the district.
The event witnessed the presence of members from the newly formed Niuland District Football Referee Association, marking a moment of solidarity and shared vision for football refereeing in the region.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by DDFRA member Avar Danla and commenced with an invocation by Clement. Sanjit Difoe delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Vice President Vikato Assumi. The benediction was offered by Athrong Yimchunger.
A fellowship dinner hosted by the family of G. Kami concluded the evening.
