Dimapur District Gb Association (DDGBA) has informed all open street vendors within the market areas to temporarily shift to Hazi park/Hongkong market/Super market during the festive season starting December 4, 2023.
In a statement, DDGBA president Hokuto Zhimomi and general secretary Nieba Kesiezie said that the system was initiated in consultation with the district administration, DMC and law enforcing agencies, keeping in mind the convenience of the public during festive season.
It said the objective is to have hassle free movement on footpath for festive shoppers (pedestrian), which are occupied by street vendors. This would also ease the flow of vehicular movement, traffic congestion and have more parking space in the market areas, thereby easing the burden of traffic personnel monitoring the traffic flow in Dimapur city.
DDGBA said it would also create an avenue for shoppers to have easy accessibility of different commodities in a particular spot during rush/festive time. In this regard, DDGBA has asked all open street vendors to shift to the designated areas till the festive season was over.
