DDMA Mokokchung briefs media on disaster response

DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atsungba Walling, and Nodal Officer for Mokokchung and Tuensang districts from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, Temsuwangshi, held a press briefing with media houses at the DC’s Office, Mokokchung on August 4, 2026.
The briefing was convened to provide updates on the situation arising from multiple natural disasters that have affected different parts of Mokokchung district following incessant rainfall.
DDMA officials informed that assessment and monitoring of affected areas were carried out across villages and subdivisions till August 2, with officials visiting the locations to evaluate the situation and extend necessary assistance. The DDMA stated that all possible support is being provided for the restoration of basic infrastructure and emergency relief to affected families and villages. Restoration and rehabilitation works are being undertaken in coordination with various line departments.
Officials further noted that while several restoration activities have already been initiated, some works remain in progress. The DDMA, in coordination with concerned departments, continues to monitor the situation and facilitate relief and restoration measures in the affected areas.
