DDPSU warns against selling dead chickens

Staff Reporter

In response to a recent incident that raised serious concerns over food safety and public health, the Dimapur District Poultry Suppliers’ Union (DDPSU) has sternly warned against the sale of dead chickens in the market.

On January 31, a poultry shop at New Market was found selling dead chickens.
The union has cautioned that any poultry shop found engaging in such unethical and hazardous practices would face “strict penalties” including permanent closure and legal consequences.

DDPSU president Khekishe Aye told Nagaland Post that after confirmation of the incident, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) councillor swiftly took action by shutting down the shop and removing the owner from the business.

Reiterating its commitment to ensuring food hygiene and public safety, DDPSU has said that such incidents would not be tolerated. Further, the union has urged all poultry vendors to adhere to proper hygiene standards and maintain the quality of poultry products being sold in the market.

The union also advised consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing poultry products.
DDPSU further encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities related to food safety to the concerned authorities. For reporting violations, customers could contact DDPSU member (+91 878-7837180)
