The Dimapur Dibuia Students’ Union (DDSU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee (1975–2025) in Dimapur, commemorating five decades of academic excellence, community service and youth development. The milestone event was a platform to reflect on the union’s legacy while charting a forward-looking vision for holistic growth and empowerment.
Gracing the occasion as guest speaker, joint secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Bendanglila, addressed the gathering on the theme “Holistic Growth.” She emphasized the importance of balanced development across physical, mental and emotional dimensions, underscoring the role of moral values, continuous learning and a strong work ethic in building a productive and compassionate society.
Retired IFS officer Imliyanger Tzudir delivered an exhortation, drawing from 1 Corinthians 13:11 to encourage students to embrace intellectual maturity and contribute meaningfully to societal progress. He urged the youth to recognize their potential and strive for excellence.
Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) president Imnatemsu Pongen acknowledged DDSU’s longstanding contribution to ASUD’s social and cultural initiatives, describing the union as an integral and supportive unit. President of Dimapur Dibuia Senso Telongjem, Afong Walling called on the younger generation to emulate the perseverance of their elders who laid the foundation for educational success in the early years of DDSU.
DDSU president Ayudi Longkumer highlighted the academic achievements of Dibuia students over the years and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to promoting education. As part of its Golden Jubilee pledge, DDSU announced two major initiatives: the establishment of a biodiversity park at the Longrapenlichen Tourist Centre Project, focusing on the preservation of wild fruits and flowers unique to the area; and a recurring educational and career development program, including biennial seminars and financial assistance for students preparing for competitive examinations such as NSSB, NPSC, UPSC and SSC.
The event featured a welcome address by DDSU president Imlikala Ao, a special prayer by Dimapur Dibuia Senso Telongjem treasurer Chubawati Aier, and an invocation by Associate Professor at Discipleship Bible College, Dimapur Rev. Dr. Mar Pongen. DDSU treasurer Lanupokyim Longkumer delivered the vote of thanks, while Jubilee Planning Committee Convenor Oyimpong Longchar presented the committee’s report, expressing gratitude to all supporting units and members for their dedication and sacrifice. The benediction was pronounced by Maclean Imchen.
