DIMAPUR: Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU GKY), a fully funded, placement linked residential skill development programme, conducted its first Combined Induction Programme under DDU GKY 2.0 on September 1 at Town Hall, Dimapur. Over 200 rural youth from across Nagaland participated.
Addressing the gathering, Mission Director, NSRLM, Moa Sangtam encouraged trainees to remain committed to their training and view it as the beginning of their journey towards self reliance. He highlighted that DDU GKY is currently the only residential skilling and placement programme fully sponsored by the Central and State Governments and implemented at scale in Nagaland. He urged youth to complete their training and assessments and move forward towards employment.
The Mission Director also called upon Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) to ensure quality training and suitable placement for rural youth, stressing that their commitment is crucial to the programme’s success and the state’s achievements at the national level.
The programme featured the inspiring success story of Kevirenu Kera, who progressed from DDU GKY training to her first placement in hospitality and now holds an international career as a Dining Steward with Cunard Cruise Line, UK. She credited MoRD, Government of India, and NSRLM, Government of Nagaland for their support, and encouraged trainees to embrace challenges and seize opportunities.
New trainees Thejasituo Sale and Ruokuokhrienuo Miario also shared their aspirations, noting that the training equips them not only with aviation related knowledge but also essential skills in communication, discipline, professionalism and confidence. They expressed gratitude for the opportunities created for rural youth to gain skills, build confidence, become self reliant and pursue meaningful careers.
The programme concluded with an appeal to trainees to pursue their training with patience and dedication as they embark on a new phase of life from dependence towards self reliance.
