
Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) has on Monday organised prayer service showing solidarity to the cold-blooded murder of 15 civilians of Oting, Mon district, by the Indian Security Forces.
Delivering the presidential address, president WSSU, A Kughato Achumi said since time immemorial, Nagas have been struggling hard to bring peace in the state, adding that when all Nagas were yearning for peace, it was unfortunate and deeply saddened to hear of the massacre carried out by the Indian Security Forces on innocent civilians.
He hoped that Nagas in general would have the strength to overcome atrocities and prayed that justice would prevail soon.
He further urged all public leaders that this was a time where one cannot avail justice with force, but to believe in coming together as one and fight with wisdom, prayer, knowledge and nonviolence.
Delivering a short speech, vice president, Western Sumi Hoho, Tohoshe Awomi, lamented that when Nagas were hoping for Christmas gifts in the form of Naga solution, the India Security Forces have instead killed Naga labours.
He pointed out that Indian intelligence were considered one amongst the highest in the world, but maintained that it should be regarded it as “fantastically stupid intelligence”
He also regarded AFSPA as a draconian law and asserted that it was high time to abolish the act, stressing that such acts do not have a stay in a civilized nation.
General secretary, Western Sumi Youth Front, Bohoi Yepthomi, in his speech viewed that it was time for Nagas to come out from the nutshell of tribalism, noting that this has been killing the unity of Nagas and further urged to come out together and fight the battle together.
Short speeches were also delivered by executive member, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Kuhoi Zhimomi, vice president, Western Sumi Totimi Hoho, Aholi Chophy, and president, Western Sumi Sports Association, Vikuto Zhimo.
All speakers have vehemently condemned the act carried out by the Indian Security Forces and further shared condolences to the bereaved family. The speakers further stressed that AFSPA be immediately repealed.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by general secretary WSSU, Mughabeto K Jimo and prayer and devotion offered by executive secretary WSBAK, Rev. Dr. Phughoto Aye.
It can be noted that the decorations light all round Thahekhu village was kept off during the prayer service.
