Several organisations have condemned the abduction and physical assault on four youth and demanded action against the perpetrators.
NCD: Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has condemned the “barbaric act of NSCN-R (Akato) group”, which allegedly “abducted and meted out physical brutal assault” on four innocent Naga youths including a student, without any reason or provocation.
In a condemnation note, NCD appealed to the law enforcing agencies and police to arrest the culprits and award befitting punishment to the cadres involved according to law of the land.
NCD also appealed to law enforcement to “flush out all the cadres of Naga National Factional Groups from in and around Dimapur particularly during this festive season”.
The council also appealed to the government to ensure that Ceasefire Ground Rules were strictly adhered to by all Naga Political groups.
Further, NCD extended full support, cooperation and solidarity to the victims while fighting for justice and their rights.
PLU: Phenshunyu Lowjvu Union (LSU) has flayed the “abhorrent abduction” and assault on four individuals, including two of its bona fide members allegedly by cadres of Akato-led NSCN (R) on December 17.
LSU through its media cell said such “inhuman and unlawful” actions was a deliberate violation of human rights and a grave effort to the principles of justice, peace and human dignity.
The union appealed to the authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
LSU also conveyed sympathies and support to the victims and family members during this “arduous” time.
DLYO: Dimapur Lotha Youth Organisation (DLYO) condemned the criminal act of abduction, physical assault and intimidation perpetrated on four youths by armed cadres at Thahekhu village, Dimapur in the wee hours of December 17.
DLYO media cell said such inhuman act on innocent youths by armed cadres was unacceptable and called upon every Nagas irrespective of tribes to strongly condemn such acts of violence and intimidation so that in future such act was prevented.
As youth organization, DLYO said it was equally disturbed and concerned on the future of the Naga society if this kind of incident continues.
Maintaining that used of firearms on innocent against the citizens was against the law, DLYO appealed to the Naga National Groups to control their cadres and refrain them from using fire arms to intimidate, abduct and torture innocent civilians.
DLYO further reminded the underground groups to have a clear vision on the objective they were fighting and not to show their gun power to the innocent Naga brothers.
The youth body also appealed to the law enforcing agency to book the perpetrators and take stringent action, as use of firearms was a blatant disregard to the rule of the law.
DLYO also prayed for the speedy recovery of the victims who are undergoing treatment at hospital and further appealed everyone to refrain from such act during the festive season when everyone was seeking for peace and harmony.
