The declaration ceremony of the PDA consensus BJP candidate for the 28 Koridang by-election, Daochier I. Imchen, was held at Mangmetong Council Hall in the presence of senior party leaders, alliance partners, and party workers.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Legislature Party leader Yanthungo Patton said the party ticket was allotted after thorough deliberation and consultation with the central leadership. Refuting allegations of dynastic politics, he maintained that the decision was made in the best interest of both the constituency and the party.
Patton also dismissed claims that the BJP had offered tickets to other aspiring candidates, terming such statements as baseless and misleading. Emphasizing unity, he called on BJP and NPF workers to work together in the spirit of alliance for the development of the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency.
Recalling the contributions of late Imkong L. Imchen, he said the former leader dedicated his life to public service, adding that Daochier aims to carry forward this legacy with a focus on grassroots development and youth aspirations.
He further stated that if elected, Daochier would be part of the ruling government, enabling stronger representation and access to development opportunities for the constituency.
Highlighting the strength of the PDA alliance, Patton expressed confidence in achieving progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. He also urged voters to maintain peace and unity during the election period.
Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change C. L. John reaffirmed that Daochier I. Imchen is the sole PDA consensus candidate, cautioning against misinformation.
