IMPHAL, AUG 4 (NPN): Manipur chief minister Yumnam Khamchand Singh on Tuesday urged students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur to dedicate their knowledge and skills towards the progress of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Manipur.
Speaking at the 13th Convocation of NIT Manipur held at the City Convention Centre, Imphal, the chief minister described NIT Manipur as one of the emerging premier technical institutions in the Northeast. He called upon the graduating students to strive for excellence and become future administrators, innovators and leaders.
Congratulating the graduates, Singh reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to establishing a permanent campus for NIT Manipur. He acknowledged the support of MLA Rameshwar Singh of Kakching Assembly Constituency and said discussions with stakeholders would continue to facilitate land for the campus at the earliest.
Highlighting the importance of technical education in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Singh said graduates from disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering would play a vital role in nation‑building. He expressed confidence that institutions like NIT Manipur would contribute significantly towards realizing the Prime Minister’s vision.
Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Bajrang Lal Bagra, also congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold values of integrity, innovation and service. He emphasized that education must be guided by ethics and compassion, and encouraged students to contribute meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
During the convocation, the chief minister, along with the chairperson and director, presented gold medals and awards to meritorious students in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.
