Candidature declaration and dedicatory programme of BJP candidate for 1 Dimapur I A/C, H Tovihoto Ayemi and thanksgiving programme of Moatoshi NDPP candidate of 2 Dimapur II A/C was held on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering at Generis ground, Naga colony, Dimapur, Tovihoto highlighted in brief the developmental projects and schemes brought by BJP regime in the centre over the past nine years.
He reminded the gathering on how the Modi government provided free Covid vaccines to over 193 crore Indian citizens and also to other neighboring countries, free rice distribution scheme, Ayushman Bharat schemes, etc, adding that this were just some of the schemes which benefited individuals directly.
He also spoke on the all-round development brought in by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Rio and NDPP and BJP alliance in the state in the past five years.
Earlier, the propgramme was chaired by campaign director, Hokuto Zhimo, invocation by pastor, Nagamese Church, Naga Colony, Nathan Khing and welcome address delivered by president, 1 Dmr 1 Mandal, LR Anthony.
Dedicatory prayer was offered by ES, WSBAK, Dr Rev Phughoto Sema, vote of thanks by chief agent, Zasivikho Zakiesato and benediction offered by Apostolic Church, Zakiesato Colony, Rev. Kevisezo Angami.
Thanksgiving programme: 2 Dimapur II A/C will witness a triangular contest after Independent candidate Supu Jamir withdrew his nomination. Sitting MLA, Moatoshi Longkumer of NDPP will be facing a challenge from LJP-RV party candidate, Y. Vikheho Awomi and Congress candidate S. Amento Chishi
On Friday, a thanksgiving programme was organised by Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) treasurer residence attended by Ungma Union Dimapur, Dimapur Watsu Telongjem, Ao Student’s Union Dimapur and Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation on Saturday.
Speaking to media, after the programme, Moatoshi said the withdrawal of Supu was not done on the basis of tribal line but was an “understanding” between the two candidates.
On his withdrawal, Supu Jamir claimed that “where there is understanding everything comes in”, and therefore with a “strong understanding” between him and Moatoshi, he withdrew his candidature. “There was a discussion, and having understood the opinion expressed, the withdrawal of his candidature was announced”, Jamir said and extended support to Moatoshi Longkumer.
Keneizhakho Nakhro release manifesto: Sitting MLA from 8-Western Angami Keneizhakho Nakhro, who will be contesting assembly election as Independent released his manifesto at Kohima on Saturday.
Nakhro said that 2018-2022 was tough due to pandemic and series of elections but he gave his best to reach out the people by empowering youth and women by way of launching skill development training.
In his manifesto, the key priorities included infrastructure, education, health, gender equality/women empowerment, economic development, inclusive growth, responsible tourism and agriculture.
