NEW DELHI, NOV 1 (AGENCIES): Delhi has introduced pollution-control measures, including restrictions on older outside-registered vehicles, construction curbs, 50% office attendance, higher parking fees and staggered government office timings.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed offices in Delhi and five NCR districts to adopt 50:50 work-from-home from November 5 to 20.
Outside-registered vehicles meeting BS-IV or older emission standards will be barred until January 31. CNG and electric vehicles, ambulances, fire tenders and police vehicles are exempt.
Dust-generating outdoor construction and demolition will be prohibited until January 31, except essential infrastructure projects. A wider construction ban will apply from December 10 to January 20.
Delhi offices will limit physical attendance to 50% until January 31. Parking fees at lots will double until February 28. Municipal Corporation offices will operate from 8.30 am to 5 pm and Delhi government offices from 10 am to 6.30 pm to ease congestion.
CAQM extended attendance and construction restrictions to Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar from November 5 to 20.
Schools have been asked to implement plans covering dust control, anti-firecracker campaigns, ventilation, public transport and green spaces. Enforcement teams, ANPR cameras and an AI-enabled control centre will monitor compliance.
