A demonstration on mushroom cultivation was conducted at Izhevi village where ATM Aghunaqa block, Aketoli, showed step by step procedures cultivating, caring for and harvesting mushrooms.
She also explained how mushroom cultivation could strengthen local livelihoods through generation of a fast yielding, nutritious source of food and serve as a reliable source of income. Since mushrooms do not require access to land for its plantation and cultivation, it is a viable activity for farmers from both rural and pre-urban areas in the state, she said.
Later, a mobilization of farmer groups was conducted by BTM Aghunaqa block where the highlights were on the formation of SHG groups and discussion of their maintenance.
