
The department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) and the department of Youth Resources and Sports (YR&S) bid farewell to their Longleng Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and commissioner and secretary respectively. According to DIPR, the farewell functions were organized on October 31 for both the outgoing officials.
YR&S: The farewell program honoring commissioner & secretary, Youth Resources and Sports, Anenla S. Longchari, was held at Hotel Japfü on October 31.
Anenla, in her farewell speech, said she joined the office of the commissioner in 1982, and she shared some of her past memories. She recalled how they had to function with hardly anything to guide them as there were no complied set of rules and guide books but only the basic training from the ATI, and spoke about how she sought help and guidance from her officers and even from her subordinates to perform her official duties.
She also said government employees should create a good working congenial working environment in the office since they spend a better part of the day in the office making it ‘a home away from home’, and also need to adjust themselves with their colleagues.
Advisor YR&S, Er. Zale Neikha, in his speech described the out-going commissioner & secretary as a “Pillar and Rock of my fortress”, a guide and a mother like-figure, and an advisor in the business of administration. He also described her as a simple, trustworthy, dependable and down to earth person. Er. Neikha also said that since she took charge of the office in January 2018, she changed the working system of administration and the department has been able to achieve soaring heights of success.
Others who spoke on the occasion were the director, Akumla Chuba and joint secretary, Limawabang Jamir. Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from NCC, Bharat Scouts & Guides, NYKs, DSOs, YROs and the Engineer Wing. The program was chaired by deputy director, YR&S, Megolhu Dolie.
H&FW: The Medical fraternity and various organizations of Longleng bid farewell to CMO Longleng, Dr. Kongyan Phom on his retirement on October 31 at the CMO’s Conference Hall.
DC Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam, in his short speech, called it the biggest achievement and a blessing for a government officer to retire in good health. He said that Dr. Kongyan had put all his efforts and delivered his service to the people and appreciated everything that he has done during his time for the welfare of the district. John wished the outgoing CMO a very peaceful and a successful retired life.
Dr. Phom, in his farewell speech, reminisced about the first time he came back as the first and the only Phom Doctor in 1989. He spoke about the difficulties he encountered during those troubled times, where he used to go to Tuensang on foot to collect his salary and the problems he faced. He could not even go for further specialization since he was the only doctor in the district and his services as a doctor were in dire need, and in the hospital he would train the very few nurses since there was nobody to help him. Dr. Kongyan compared those days to the present day and pointed out that everything has been made easy at this digital age and that he is even happier to see many doctors in the district hospital.
He requested all the NGOs, APGO, PPC and any well-wishers to contribute to the ongoing construction of a labour room for the benefit of all the people in the district.
The farewell program was chaired by DVBO (NVBDCP), Dr. Manyau Phom, invocation prayer was offered by LTBC, Rev. Beau, TNAI Unit Longleng, DPMU CMO office presented a special number, DPO (UIP/RCH), Dr. Imnameren Phom delivered a vote of thanks.
Short speeches were delivered by president of all Phom Graduates Officer, Angam; president, Phom People’s Council, Chingan Phom and medical superintendent, Dr. Toshirenla on behalf of District Hospital and deputy CMO, Dr. Thungbemo Patton on behalf of the CMO’s office.
