At least eight village councils and 10 colony councils under Dimapur have threatened to take own course of action and agitate till the deplorable National Highway-36 stretch was repaired.
In an ultimatum addressed to the chief engineer PWD (National Highway), the village councils including Sengjum, Rilan, Indisen, Lengrijan, Aoyimkum, Kacharigaon, Kashiram, Industrial village Razuphe and colony councils including Industrial Estate, Hill View, Oriental, Aokong, Duncan Basti, Supply, Landmark, PWD, Forest and Midland have expressed dismay at the deplorable condition of NH-39 stretch from Dillai Gate to Golaghat Road Point via Dhobinala Point, Dimapur.
They said that the road has been left neglected for so many years and the commuters have been facing intense hardship and problems due to the bad road condition.
The signatories alleged that “to make the things worse” the Kampong Kamyer Trading Co. left the work half done, which has further deteriorated the road condition.
They pointed out that there were several commercial markets, schools and colleges along the stretch, adding that the School and College going students and the general public were facing a lot of problems due to deplorable road.
The colony councils and village councils have therefore urged the department to immediately repair the road before the festive season.
Failure to repair the road, the council cautioned that they would be compelled to take own course of action and agitate till the road was repaired.
