DIMAPUR: Department of Posts has introduced a new category of sales force termed “Other Departmental Employee (ODE)” to expand the outreach of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI).
Under the new provision, serving Central and State Government employees-other than those of the Department of Posts-holding posts up to Level 8 of the Pay Matrix will be eligible to engage as ODEs for procuring PLI/RPLI business.
The initiative is intended to leverage business potential across government departments and expand the reach of PLI/RPLI services among eligible beneficiaries, including the rural population, thereby contributing towards the Government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat.”
The engagement will be purely voluntary and will not create any employer employee relationship between the ODE and the Department of Posts. ODEs will be required to procure PLI/RPLI business strictly outside their official working hours and in accordance with instructions issued by the PLI Directorate.
ODEs will be entitled to receive procurement and renewal incentives at rates applicable to the Departmental Employee (DE) category, as amended from time to time.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the outreach of PLI/RPLI and provide an opportunity for willing government employees in Nagaland-one from each department/office at the block level-to contribute to the promotion of postal insurance products outside their official duties.
