DIMAPUR, SEP 12 (NPN): The deputy chief minister of Nagaland, Y. Patton, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mhayibeni Gifty Jami for becoming the first Naga to represent India in the Intellectual Strategy Games at the VI World Nomad Games, held in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan.
Patton described the achievement as a proud moment for Nagaland and the nation, noting that Jami’s participation on an international platform has brought immense honor to her people. Competing in the traditional board game Toguz Korgool under the Intellectual Strategy Games category, Jami faced opponents from Turkey, Morocco, Mongolia, the United States, Sweden, Malaysia, Cabo Verde and Burundi. Her performance contributed to Team India securing the 17th position alongside Korea, while she individually ranked 27th among 133 participants from 48 countries.
The deputy chief minister observed that intellectual strategy games demand patience, sharp calculation and clear decision-making. He praised Jami’s remarkable focus and resilience against seasoned international competitors, emphasizing that her success sets a positive example for youth aspiring to pursue intellectual sports.
Patton conveyed his best wishes for Jami’s future tournaments, expressing confidence that she will continue to excel and inspire many more young minds from Nagaland to step onto global stages.
