Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera called on Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav and chief minister Dr Neiphiu Rio at Kohima on Tuesday.
According to a defence release, the courtesy visit was aimed at strengthening civil-military engagement and fostering closer coordination between the Assam Rifles and the state administration.
During the meeting, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera discussed operational preparedness, ongoing development initiatives in border areas and measures to enhance community outreach programmes undertaken by the Assam Rifles.
The release stated that governor and chief minister appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles in promoting security, regional development and welfare activities in remote areas.
It said that both leaders also emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts for sustainable development, disaster management and youth empowerment in the region.
