Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland Rupin Sharma encouraged the students to maintain a healthy body to achieve a healthy mind. He was speaking on the second day of the 18th Sazolie College Sports Meet as the special guest on February 27 in a short programme conducted at Vineizono Hall.
Sharma said that in sports, one must have attributes such as a healthy body, competitiveness, learning to win and lose and learning to accept loss graciously. He emphasized on the need to maintain a fit body and to abstain from substance abuse such as alcohol, tobacco and drugs. The DGP further challenged the students to report if any of their loved ones are taking drugs and to help them by informing somebody who can intervene and take them away from this habit. He also stated that the department is ready to help in giving lectures and various aspects of drugs so that the children are aware of the consequences.
The Sports Meet which kicked off on February 26 will conclude on March 1. Games such as football, volleyball, basketball, futsal, kho-kho, tunnel ball, track and field, badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess, traditional games, arm wrestling and fitness are competitive games of the five-day sports meet. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by principal, Sazolie College, Dr. Gopal Chetri. The sports day then continued at the Jotsoma Village ground after the programme.
