
A programme on distribution of COVID-19 medicines and supplement kits under state police department and launching of booklet titled “Clinical Management Protocol: COVID-19” sponsored by Nagaland Police Risk Insurance Scheme(NPRIS), PHQ was heldat police headquarters, Kohima on July 30.
According to a DIPR report, the director general of police (DGP), Nagaland T. John Longkumer who launched the programme said that the initiative was successful due to the combined efforts of senior officers who looked for ways to deal with COVID issues in all units of the state and procuring medicines and supplement kits directly through the manufacturers from Delhi.
DGP informed that in the police department, a total of 2338 COVID-19 positive cases were detected, but 2291 personnel recovered while 11 personnel succumbed to COVID-19.
He said that the recovery rate was excellent and gave credits to the unit commanders and senior officers who inculcated COVID SOPs in their units.
Longkumer also pointed out that the police department was the first department in the state to undertake vaccination drive apart from the medical department.
He also appealed to all who were not vaccinated to get vaccinated.
The programme was initiated to contain the spread of the disease and to ensure basic precautions for personnel and families especially in far flung areas of the state.
The department along with its welfare society initiated COVID emergency relief fund from NPRIS and sanctioned Rs. 35 lakh to the department for procurement of COVID-19 medicines and supplement kits with monetary assistance to units under police department.
