DGTA VP, Khango-led NSCN (K) refute Niki-led NSCN (K)’s claims

Dimapur Goods Transport Association (DGTA) vice president Mughavi N Zhimomi and Khango-led NSCN (K) have separately refuted the claim of the Niki Sumi-led NSCN (K) that Mughavi was tatar of Khango-led NSCN (K).

In a statement, Mughavi also refuted the allegations by Niki group that he embezzled money collected in the names of Naga political groups. He maintained that all his actions were in his capacity as vice-president of DGTA which represented the collective decision of the union and not personal.

Mughavi alleged that a cadre of Niki group was sent by “one self-styled deputy kilonser” Inavi Achumi, a resident of Padampukhri, to meet him on September 3 and who threatened to attack   Manipur-bound trucks unless the dy. kilonser was paid huge amount of money.

Mughavi said he was not surprised later when two trucks were fired upon at Jharnapani around 9 p.m. on September 19.

He further alleged that one Kakheto, a broker of Niki group, had demanded Rs 2,17,000 on September 13 from one bonafide DGTA member but was told that any payment can only be pursued with the collective decision of DGTA and no individual can be forced to pay.  Mughavi said in response, Kakheto threatened the member with dire consequence over phone on September 18 and also warned he would personally ask Niki to take stern action against him (Mughavi).

Mughavi said during conversation between Kakheto and the member, the mobile was on loudspeaker and he overheard the entire conversation as he was physically present with the member when Kakheto made the call.

Mughavi said when he and his wife were not home, six masked persons with five automatic weapons claiming to be from Niki group attacked intruded into his residence around 7 pm on September 19.

He also alleged that a six-year-old child was “punched and kicked around” by several adults and thrown to the corner. He said seven mobile phones belonging to the students/children in the house were damaged beyond repair and children intimidated at gunpoint.

After all these harrowing experiences and humiliation in the hands of Niki group’s members, Mughavi said it was unfortunate that the group resorted to “most unwarranted propaganda campaign” and spreading false information to smear his reputation.

Mughavi reiterated his refutation of “all the baseless allegations levelled against me and any decision taken is not mine personally, but the collective wisdom of the union and therefore it is but to no avail to corner me individually.”

Thilixu village flays ‘harassment’

GBs of Thilixu village, Thilixu village council, Thilixu Youth organisation and Thilixu STH have strongly condemned the alleged harassment meted out to the family members of Mughavi Zhimomi, a resident of Thilixu Village Block 3, House No 150, by some armed miscreants on September 19.

In a press release, Thilixu village GB, P Honikhe Yeputho, said that the incident occurred at a time when the Nagas were yearning for peaceful solution and amid the ongoing peace negotiations.

Describing the incident as uncalled for, the Thilixu village said such incident creates physical and mental harassment.

The village has warned that such incident occurring in the future within the village jurisdiction would not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, reacting to DCCI condemnation, in which it was mentioned that Mughavi Zhimomi was a resident of “Mishikito Village”, the Thilixu village council has clarified that “so called ‘Mishikito Village’ does not exist as it falls under Thilixu Village, Block 3.”

Khango group denies allegation
Meanwhile, NSCN/GPRN (Khango/Isak) has clarified that Dimapur Goods Transport Association vice-president Mughavi Zhimo was in no way affiliated to or had ties with the organisation either past or present.
In a statement, the Khango/Isak group said the allegation levelled by Niki Sumi-led NSCN (K) was condemnable on the part of the former in trying to tarnish the latter’s good image and should not be repeated.
It also asked the reason for Niki’s group in trying to character assassinate a Naga businessman, instead of encouraging upcoming Naga entrepreneurs.
Refuting what it called “false allegation”, the Khango group further advised the Niki group not to stoop so low to satisfy its greed and also victimise innocent Naga entrepreneurs in future.
