A group of nine senior staff nurses from District Hospital, Phek, undertook exposure trip to NEIGRIHMS Hospital, Shillong, organized by the Hospital Welfare Committee of DH Phek on March 27 and 28, 2025.
The initiative was led by DH Phek, SMO, Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu. During the visit, NEIGRIHMS, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Ridaker Khoglah, provided an overview of the hospital.
The team, led by two deputy Nursing Superintendents, toured various departments, including OPD services, Radiology, Blood Collection Centre, Casualty, Dialysis Centre, Labour Room, Operation Theatre, ICU, and super-specialty departments like Cardiology, Urology, and Nephrology. They also visited support services such as the laundry, kitchen, and Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).
Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Associate Professor Dr. Wamsalan Karu Shullai, gave a brief orientation on the LaQshya (National Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative) Assessment and its implementation.
The exposure tour provided valuable insights into the structure and functioning of a tertiary hospital, which will help improve the quality of care at their own hospital.
