Expressing displeasure over the missing of their names in the final payment list of compensation for Dhansiri-Zubza Railway Line, the 18 landowners of Sirhima village have served one-week ultimatum on the responsible authority to clarify whether their land was required for railway line construction.
In a press release, Kuodelie Kuotsu and Neipephu Linyü, on behalf of the 18 land owners, cautioned that failure to respond would compel them to construe that their lands were “not required” and that they could utilize their land for other purposes as deemed fit.
They claimed that 43 beneficiaries of land owners were finalised after being duly authenticated/certified by the village council and the district administration along with all the concerned parties. However, the signatories said that subsequent payment was found “unjust and biased” as payment was made only to 15 Kuki beneficiaries while 18 Angami beneficiaries were neither paid nor intimated besides three authenticated Angami beneficiaries plots paid in favour of VCC. “All this was done without our chance given for prior claims and objections,” the signatories said.
