Dhansiripar CSOs oppose move to shift admn control

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under Dhansiripar sub-division—Sema Dimasa Union, Aqahuto Area Kukami Kuqhakulu, Dimasa GB Union, Aqahuto Sulimi Totimi Hoho, Aqahuto Area Student’s Union, Aqahuto Area Youth Front Dhansiripar Area, Dimasa Woman Organisation Dhansiripar Area— have described as “arbitrary and illegal” the move to bring the administrative control of Dhansiripar sub-division under Chumukedima from the present jurisdiction of deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur without taking into consideration of the people living in Dhansiripar.

In a statement, Sema Dimasa Union (SDU) Dhansiripar sub-division, president H Vekuto Swu and general secretary D Naben said that Dhansiripar was one of the oldest sub-divisions in Dimapur and had been conveniently functioning under the administrative control of DC Dimapur since its inception.

As such, the signatories said that the “unprecedented and illegal” move of shifting the administrative control would cause great inconvenience. They said that Dhansiripar CSOs would not remain a mere spectator, but would “fight tooth and nail against any such action through democratic means.”

Dhansiripar CSOs have, therefore, urged the responsible authority “to respect and value the aspiration of the people of Dhansiripar and desist from such action.”
