DHD Nursing holds Lamp Lighting ceremony

DIMAPUR: College of Nursing, District Hospital Dimapur (CON DHD) held its 2nd Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking ceremony for B.Sc. Nursing students at Chapel Hall, DHD, on October 13. Altogether 39 nursing students took part in the lamp lighting ceremony.
Addressing the function, Dr. George Thirah, medical superintendent of DHD, exhorted the students to become nurses whom patients look forward to for care, rather than those whose presence was endured until the end of their shift.
He further encouraged them to explore opportunities abroad after graduation, where competent nurses armed with knowledge were in high demand.
Joint director (Nursing), Tiakala Longkumer shared her experiences as a student nurse and emphasised that nurses must always uphold compassion in an evolving world of artificial intelligence and advanced technology.
Nursing superintendent of CIHSR, Prof. Emi Humtsoe, highlighted the significance of the Florence Nightingale pledge, pointing out that while nursing has evolved through the ages, its core remains unchanged-“serving with humility and compassion.”
Dr. Rachel Ao, principal in charge, stressed the importance of resilience and commitment in the journey of student nurses, reminding them of the dedication required in their chosen profession.
The lamp lighting and oath taking was conducted by Molungnenla Imchen, assistant professor, while Bendangrenla Jamir, assistant professor, welcomed the dignitaries.
The programme was chaired by Pursangla I, and Rev. Yhunlo Thong, chaplain of DHD, offered prayers for the newly inducted B.Sc. Nursing students.
