Labour Room renovation initiated by Act Of Kindness (AOK) and under Military Civic Action (MCA) project, Operation Sadbhavana by GOC 3 Corps at Maternity Ward, District Hospital Dimapur was inaugurated by Lt. Col. R Bharat Sharma during a brief opening ceremony at the hospital chapel, Friday.
In a brief speech, Lt. Col. R. Bharat Sharma said sensing the importance and seriousness of motherhood in a women’s life, the army’s had to “personal green signal” for the project and that was how the renovation work began.
Adding that the only thing society could give back to the mothers was a neat, clean, safe and environment for them to bring their new born babies into this world. This, he said, was the supreme service to the womanhood.
Also speaking in the programme deputy commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyü Yhome said, lately there had been discussions in the bureaucratic level that “good governance was less government”. He said government had felt the need to move out of areas where other people could do better.
With that in mind, he added that the district administration and the state government may have not been the right authorities who possess the expertise in the health sector.
Yhome said, the district administration as the functionary of the government had been contemplating on contributing their services particularly in the social sector. He said the government needed to reorient their objectives into the social sector rather than on the infrastructure or other sectors of economic functioning.
Yhome said, although the renovation may be small in terms of the hospital as a whole, he said it was a huge service to mankind which had turned into an exciting day.
