
District Hospital Kiphire (DHK) celebrated its Foundation Day on October 2 at New Hospital Complex with deputy commissioner Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro as chief guest.
Khro spoke on the importance of ownership and acknowledgement for public property.
While maintaining that like the Medical Department, all government departments work for the welfare of the people, the chief guest said “When an employee works at a far flung area; one does not look for the comforts of a home, but for co-ordination and understanding from the public. This helps in bringing about change and development in the area.”
He thanked the medical staffs for their tireless service rendered and appreciated the efforts taken to observe the programme.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Tsipongchem Sangtam, stated the hospital was celebrating its Foundation Day after 36 years of its establishment in October 2, 1980.
He gave an insight into the history, profile of the District Hospital, services provided and the ongoing projects.
He said that, “We are observing this day to honour and remember the pioneers who started from scratch with minimum facilities. To see the changes that have taken place over the years is a landmark achievement.”
Dr. C. Tsenthunglo Patton (CMO) in his speech stressed on the need of the public to work hand in hand with the medical department for the welfare of the community.
Brief speeches were delivered by. Sepithong, Hd. GB Kiphire Town, Tsipikyu Hd. GB Kiphire Village, Tsalimong (spoke on behalf of land donors) and Khadomong exe. secretary USSC Kiphire wherein they expressed gratitude to the medical staffs for giving their best and providing the health services despite the hardships faced in a remote district like Kiphire, and gave their word to support the medical department for the public wellbeing.
After stating that USSC was adopting District Hospital Kiphire during the programme, Khadomong encouraged the medical fraternity to “collectively work together to bring change in the community.”
During the function special no. was presented by the nurses with Noklentula as i/c. Certificates were also given out to Akangkokla (Nurse FHW), Talisowa Jamir (Lab Tech), Lily Anar (Date Entry Operator), Litongba Sangtam (Grade IV staff), Selila Sangtam (Ayah) and Limasenla (LDA) for their exemplary service.
Earlier, the programme started with an invocation prayer by Rev. Imdangmeren Jamir, pastor KTABA.
