DIMAPUR: Advisor to chief minister and chairman of Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Abu Metha graced the inauguration programme of the dialysis unit and solar street light installation at District Hospital Mon as special guest on September 2, 2026, at the hospital conference hall.
Speaking at the programme, Metha expressed gratitude to the medical fraternity led by the Medical Superintendent and Doctors For You for organising the event. He appreciated the manner in which Mon District Hospital was operating and providing services, congratulating the medical fraternity for extending exemplary services to citizens and setting high standards for others in the State. He remarked that it was commendable that a hospital in a far flung district was being appreciated more than many hospitals in Nagaland.
Metha appealed to citizens to value healthcare workers, noting that they are the ones who sacrifice sleep and perform duties others may not wish to do. He said that in many developed countries, healthcare workers are held in the highest regard, and such a culture should be inculcated. He stressed that healthcare is the foundation of development, mentioning that empowerment begins with good health. “Three fundamentals of empowerment are good health, good education and economic and employment opportunities,” he stated.
Highlighting initiatives of IDAN and the State government, Metha mentioned CMHIS, Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative and SCK, noting that the government aims to bring equitable development and connectivity across the State. He congratulated citizens of Eastern Nagaland, saying they were on the verge of a historic landmark with the formation of FNTA. He emphasised that every citizen was equal and must work together to march forward.
He thanked Doctors For You for their exceptional work and expressed hope for continued collaboration to achieve the collective aim of serving citizens.
Later, Metha inaugurated the dialysis unit under PPP model and solar street light installation at the hospital campus in the presence of DC Mon Wennyei Konyak; SP Mon Kanchan Kumar Kandpal; civil society leaders and hospital officials. He also handed over sanction letters to SCK beneficiaries.
Sunny Borgohain of Doctors For You presented an overview of the project and services being provided. The programme was chaired by Dr. Aman, Assistant Medical Superintendent, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Benchilo Ngullie, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Mon. Metha also visited the hospital and inspected the wards and campus.
