DIMAPUR, OCT 10 (NPN): Diezephe village held a solemn programme on Saturday to mark the dedication and unveiling of its Village Foundation Monolith, setting the stage for its upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations (1976–2026) scheduled for October 29.
The ceremony was graced by Thepfuneituo Rio, president of Tenyimia Union Dimapur, as special guest, who unveiled the monolith. The dedicatory prayer was proposed by DABC pastor Kemhalhoulie Rhatsu.
A formal programme was held at the Village Panchayat Hall, where Thepfuneituo highlighted the importance of forgiveness, retrospection and understanding the true meaning of jubilee. Extending his greetings to the villagers, he elaborated on jubilee as a time for reflection, reconciliation and renewal of relationships. He urged the community to look back on the past, acknowledge lessons learned and move forward with a spirit of unity and forgiveness. He also expressed hope that the forthcoming jubilee celebration would be successful and meaningful for all.
The history of the village’s formation was shared by Velasüzo Shijoh, convenor of the Jubilee Organising Committee, who traced its growth from humble beginnings. According to him, the village initially comprised 50–60 households, but over the years it has expanded to 450 households with a population of approximately 2,000 people living together peacefully. He underscored the importance of remembering the origins of the village and appreciating the collective efforts that contributed to its development.
The programme was chaired by Vezota Chüzho, chairman of the Village Council, while the vote of thanks was delivered by ABC pastor T. Mar Ozüküm. The event concluded with a community feast.
