Dikhu-Chuchuyimlang road restoration gets underway

DIMAPUR, AUG 24 (NPN): Longleng and Mokokchung districts have joined hands to restore the vital Dikhu-Chuchuyimlang road, proposed as an alternative lifeline for Longleng following natural calamities that disrupted connectivity.
Before work commenced, a delegation comprising Longleng DC W. Manpai Phom, Phom Peoples’ Council president Y.B. Angam Phom and LEMSACHENLOK team leader Dr. Y. Nuklu Phom held a consultative meeting with the Chuchuyimlang Village Council, which extended cooperation for the restoration.
The road, originally constructed by the forefathers of Chuchuyimlang village, has reportedly been maintained by the village council through self-reliance without government assistance.
A prayer programme was held at Dikhu Bridge before the restoration, led by Dr. Nuklu Phom.
Manpai Phom stressed the urgency of restoring connectivity, while representatives of the Chuchuyimlang Village Council, Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang, Unger Village Council and PPC expressed support.
The restored road will provide Longleng a shorter route towards Kohima and facilitate movement of essential supplies and emergency services.
