Dilong Youth Association (DYA) celebrated its Silver Jubilee at the Dilong Community Hall on August 2 under the theme “Tayimjem Libaliyim,” meaning “Encompassing life.”
The celebration witnessed participation from present and former DYA members, ward residents, and invited guests. The theme speaker, Dr. Sashila Aier, retired Associate Professor, Fazl Ali College, lauded the pivotal role of Dilong youth in community growth and unity, describing them as “torchbearers” and “ambassadors.” She urged youth to stay rooted in their cultural identity while striving toward a purposeful future.
Emphasising cultural preservation, Dr. Aier encouraged active engagement in traditional events and called for safeguarding of language and heritage. She further stressed the significance of education, leadership, and unity, noting that discipline, empathy and compassion are crucial to building a resilient community. “Every youth should be honest, respectful, and courageous,” she stated, urging reflection on personal identity and responsibilities.
Earlier, DYA president, Lanuakum Imsong, delivered the presidential address. Founding president, Tsungtaluba Imchen, and chairperson MMC, Imkongchuba A, also shared brief speeches. Rev. Senti Jamir, pastor MTBA, offered the dedicatory prayer, while Dilong Ward Chairman, Yimten, released the jubilee souvenir.
Special songs were presented by the Jubilee choir and soloist Lipokmeren. Jubilee greetings were shared by Watsu Telen Dilong Unit and MTLT representatives. The vote of thanks was proposed by N. Bendang Jamir, convener of the Jubilee Planning Committee.
