Young artist LoungtinYinlounghu represented Nagaland at the national cultural initiative “One State One Artist (OSOA)”, showcasing the state’s traditional Naga pinmoung (wood carving art).
The event, held from May 1 to 9, 2026, in Nashala, Himachal Pradesh, brought together 38 young folk and traditional artists from across India. The initiative aims to preserve traditional and folk art heritage while providing a national platform for emerging artists.
According to a press release, during the program, LoungtinYinlounghu presented Nagaland’s wood carving tradition and engaged in collaborative artworks, workshops, and cultural exchanges with artists from other states.
Conceptualized by young artist Prakash Garg, the OSOA aims to give a renewed national identity to India’s folk art traditions through youth participation, while bringing the cultural heritage of different states onto a shared national platform.
The fully sponsored initiative provided young artists an opportunity to present their folk traditions at the national level, understand diverse artistic practices from other regions, and experience meaningful cultural exchange.
LoungtinYinlounghu’s selection and representation at OSOA marks a proud moment for the folk art traditions of Dimapur, the tradition of Nagaland, and the Naga community, reflecting how young artists from the state are taking their cultural identity to greater national recognition.
