DIMAPUR, SEP 17 (NPN): A road project for which land compensation was paid by the state government as far back as 2001 is finally set to move towards construction, with the district administration carrying out a joint survey of the proposed Dimapur town by-pass road from Amar Flour Mill to Burma Camp (Coconut Turning).
Speaking to Nagaland Post over the phone, deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang said the proposed road, measuring around 1.2km in length and 150feet in width, had been planned more than two decades ago. Although compensation had already been paid by the state government, the road was never constructed.
DC informed that the project has now received funds sanctioned to PWD (NH) under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment for its construction.
He said the district administration had been directed to provide a status report and clear any remaining obstructions so work could begin at the earliest.
A joint inspection and verification were accordingly carried out on Thursday by officials from the district administration, police, land records & survey, and PWD (NH), along with representatives of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union (Sadar).
According to DC, the inspection found no major obstruction along the proposed alignment.
Only one or two buildings may have to be demolished to facilitate construction, he added.
