Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Dimapur have reiterated their demand for initiation of infrastructural development projects in Dimapur district. A closed-door meeting of the CSOs under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) held at Tourist Lodge here on Wednesday reaffirmed the representation submitted by them in this regard to the governor on August 30.
According to NCD president Etsungmomo Kikon, the meeting lasted for more than four hours and discussed the various aspects of public welfare and development in the city. It was attended by representatives of 85 organisations, including NCD-affiliated tribal hohos, non-affiliated tribal hohos, unions and other community-based bodies.
Reaffirms memorandum: Reiterating the representation submitted to the governor, the meeting resolved that all Dimapur-based tribal bodies, CSOs and non-Naga community organisations would extend unflinching solidarity and support to NCD’s demand for construction of NH-29 by-pass at Dimapur, road to new Naga cemetery and flyover from Plaza point joining the present railway bridge, completion of multi-disciplinary sports complex and Dimapur Civil Hospital and lifting of Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act 1989, exclusively in Dimapur.
Early Naga solution: The CSOs also resolved to appeal to the Government of India to resolve Naga political issue at the earliest for ensuring permanent peace and harmony in Nagaland, as the brunt of the Naga political situation had been faced by the people in Dimapur for the last many decades since prominent designated camp headquarters and offices of the ceasefire monitoring cells of Naga political groups were allocated in and around Dimapur.
In this regard, Kikon disclosed that the NCD would be submitting a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon.
Grievance cell formed: The house also resolved to form a committee named as Dimapur Public Grievances and Welfare Committee, that would function under the aegis of Vigilance Committee of NCD to look after the welfare of the city’s residents and address their grievances.
One govt, one tax: The meeting also resolved to put into action the NCD’s slogan of “One Tax One Government” at the earliest at the behest of Dimapur Public Grievances and Welfare Committee.
Further, the participants decided that all tribal hohos, unions, CSOs of various communities, both Nagas and non-Nagas, would extend full cooperation and support to the activities of the Dimapur Public Grievances and Welfare Committee for all-round development, peace and harmony, fair and honest business activities in Dimapur district.
Grateful to Paiwang: Meanwhile, the NCD on behalf of the CSOs of Dimapur expressed gratitude to Health & Family Welfare minister P Paiwang Konyak for prioritising District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) and announcement to transform it into a referral hospital for all other districts with adequate manpower of specialists and equipment.
The minister had also announced that he would donate medical equipment such as endoscopy and laparoscopy sets, video processor, gastroscope, colonoscope equipment, medical grade monitor, etc, worth Rs 66.50 lakh.
